About Chronic Pain Services

Chronic pain can take a mental toll on anyone. It can lead to hopelessness, a loss of purpose, and stress. It’s important to address these issues not only for your mental health but your physical health as well. This can help lead to better quality of life, more productive doctor’s appointments, and learning how to better manage your pain.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of chronic pain can benefit from therapy?

Any type of chronic pain can use the support of therapy. People with conditions like Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) have often been dismissed by friends, family, employers, and doctors, which can lead to feeling lost or “crazy”. Breaking down these feelings and working towards self advocacy can help.

What does therapy for CRPS look like?

You’ll learn different interventions like cognitive mirror therapy, light therapy, and guided imagery with mindfulness grounding techniques to help break the pain cycles from different angles in a non-invasive approach. We’ll spend time prepping and planning for medical appointments so that you’re ready with questions and ways to advocate for yourself. We’ll work on the unique anxiety and depression that comes with chronic pain by grieving the life you had and planned to have while processing the fear of what the future might look like.

What if I can’t come into the office because of my pain?

Telehealth services can still be effective with chronic pain. Although mirror therapy won’t be done, clients will learn what to do for it as well as work on other interventions and goals. If the pain is so severe that logging on to a telehealth session is still too much, sessions can be made shorter as needed.
